Various multi-bed rooms, fair group rates from 12 people and a team that has personally looked after school classes, clubs and travel groups for over 25 years. Right in Hamburg-Ottensen, everything on foot, Altona station in 5 minutes.

Multi-bed rooms with 3–7 beds
Accommodation in three-, four-, five- and seven-bed rooms – flexible depending on group size and setup.

Many school classes and clubs come back year after year – we know what matters and are happy to share planning tips.
Organic breakfast & packed lunches
Reduced breakfast price if the group books the full house. Packed lunch on request (€6). Halal, gluten-free and vegan possible.
Affordable single rooms for supervisors
Single rooms for supervisors from €62/night. Unfortunately, we cannot offer free places. For large groups, we plan, at our own discretion, a night watch from our side (free of charge for you).
Everything within walking distance and quickly accessible by S-Bahn
Altona station in 5 minutes on foot, by S-Bahn e.g. in 2 stations at Reeperbahn – ideal for independent programmes.
Common room after lunch
Our guest room is available to all house guests after lunch – for meetings, games or a break.
Luggage room before & after
Our luggage room is available to the group before arrival and after check-out – ideal for arrival and departure days with a programme.
Dinner for the group is available on request. Please get in touch early so we can plan the menu and any special requests (halal, gluten-free, vegan) together.
Barrier-friendly rooms: We have rooms with wheelchair-friendly shower and toilet – suitable for groups with participants who need barrier-friendly accommodation. Please mention this in your enquiry.

You'll find reviews of the Schanzenstern on the usual group accommodation portals too – the nicest feedback for us, though, is when a teaching team or tour leader books the next trip right back with us.

Payment & cancellation
Payment and cancellation terms for groups
Payment terms
- Deposit of 20% of the total price, due no later than two weeks before arrival.
- Remaining balance by bank transfer by the day of arrival – or in cash or by EC (debit) card on arrival.
- Unfortunately we cannot accept credit cards.
Cancellation
The following cancellation terms apply (each based on the accommodation price):
- Free cancellation up to six weeks before arrival.
- Individual beds within the group booking cannot be cancelled at any time.
- Less than six weeks before arrival: 50%.
- Less than four weeks before arrival: 70%.
- Less than two weeks before arrival: 80%.
- Less than one week before arrival: 100%.
